We came to Canberra to see the Pompeii exhibition and wanted somewhere to eat the night before. I am so glad so picked this restaurant. The food was some of the best I have ever eaten at a restaurant. It was absolutely delicious. The service was great too.

The best Sri Lankan restaurant I’ve ever been to in Australia. Banana Leaf in Canberra is a truly unique and elegant place. The flavors are authentic and the presentation is beautiful. You can tell they put a lot of heart into the food. If you’re in the city, this is a must-visit for anyone who loves real Sri Lankan cuisine!"

We came here for dinner without expectations. We live in Melbourne and have a rich variety of Srilankan food at our doorstep and we found Banana Leaf to be super good and reasonably priced.
It was so good that we came back again for dinner a second time. And it again stood up to our (newly developed) high expectations.
Well done Banana Leaf. We’ll be back!

This was our lunch stop while visiting Canberra. I have to say that this is the best Sri Lankan restaurant I’ve been to in Australia so far. Everything was pretty neat. I ordered a mango mojito, which was one of the most refreshing drinks I’ve ever had. For the mains, we ordered Lamprais, which was bursting with authentic Lankan flavors👌. The presentation was very impressive, and the chicken gravy side was both tasty and spicy. For dessert, we had the Lankan favorite, watalappan, which also had an impressive presentation and tasted just as great.
The service was excellent, and the restaurant's atmosphere was calm, allowing everyone to enjoy their meal. The portion sizes were decent. It is a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth it for what you get. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I hope to go back someday.

Excellent food. Appropriate spice levels to taste authentic.
The staff was all smiles and courteous.
We had their desserts too, which were both pleasant to the eye as well as the taste buds. The coffee was great too.

The food was excellent, no complaints at all! A good spice level and very interesting flavours. This was my first time trying Sri Lankan food, and it was a very pleasant experience.
The wait was a little long, nothing crazy though. However, the staff were very apologetic about the long wait, despite us letting them know it’s totally fine! They even gave us a complimentary dessert as an apology, which was sooo unnecessary but we really appreciated it!! I’m glad they gave us the dessert though because it was absolutely delicious.

Authentic and outstanding Sri Lankan food.
For entree we had Colombo taco with jackfruit. Never knew jackfruit could taste so good outside a curry.
For mains we had the Kottu roti with both chicken and fish curries. The chicken curry had a complex flavour, fish curry was light and perfectly spiced. Both curries complemented the Kottu roti really well.
We also had the Lamprais. The rice, chicken and fish inside the banana leaf casing had blended together really well.
